- Description
- Fluorogenic substrate for caprylate esterase used as tool to identify salmonella in clinical labs. MUCAP consists of a flexible eight carbon atom ester conjugated with 4-methylumbelliferone. The non-fluorescent MUCAP substrate interacts with the salmonella C8 esterase in a specific manner leading to the release of highly fluorescent 4-methylumbelliferone that emitts strongly at 485 nm (blue fluorescence) (ex = 366 nm).
