Description: Pemafibrate is a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α agonist (PPARα EC50 = 1nM for transcriptional activity). Pemafibrate is selective for PPARα over PPARδ and PPARγ (EC50 = 2300 and 1000nM, respectively). PPARα is a transcription factor that is essential for regulation of lipid homeostasis and glucose metabolism and has been implicated in inflammation. Pemafibrate was associated with the inhibition of inflammatory responses without affecting cell proliferation or angiogenesis, and subsequently may induce an anti-atherosclerotic effect.
