Metabolite of sulfamethoxazole, a sulfonamide bacteriostatic antibiotic. Has been shown to be an important component in sulfonamide hypersensitivity reactions and has been implicated in sulfonamide-mediated immunomodulatory effects. Shown to induce lymphocyte toxicity and suppression of proliferation. Compound can be used as analytical reference material.
