Aminopolycarboxylic acid (APCA). A powerful, readily biodegradable chelant. Complexing agent, exhibiting superior biological degradation (environmentally friendly) compared to EDTA. Used in cosmetic formulations, as effective anti-oxidant and water hardness control, to reduce radical generation, as effective peroxide stabiliser, as preservative potentiator improving piocide efficacy and excellent transition metal chelator. It forms stable water-soluble complexes with metal ions. It is a promising chelant for chelant-assisted phytoextraction of trace metals in polluted soil.
